In a time series study of suicide rates in Japan from 1978-1997, it was found that the social indicators which predict the suicide rates differ for suicides committed for interpersonal, work-related, & health concerns. While measures of domestic social integration predicted the suicide rate for interpersonal reasons, unemployment, & divorce rates predicted the suicide rate for work-related reasons. (4 refs)
