This chapter presents the testimony of Rosenblum on two 1996 right to die judgments (Compassion in Dying v. Washington & Quill v. Vacco). Rosenblum asserts that: the prohibition of assisted suicide does not violate principles of equal protection; the decisions of the circuit courts undervalue the compelling interests of the state in preventing physicians from taking actions to directly cause the deaths of patients; & allowing the circuit court rulings to stand introduces a bias in favor of death & against palliative care for people.
