In an exploration of the extent to which drug treatment can contribute to the cause or precipitation of suicidal behaviour, the author reviews the drugs most often incriminated in the aetiology of depression. Drugs are categorized according to use in general medicine, psychiatry, and drugs of abuse. Problems in relating suicide to drugs are discussed. (93 refs)
