This study addresses the problem of suicide among school-age youths & identifies the need for a comprehensive suicide intervention program. The 3 basic components are: 1) prevention services to provide education & intervention for all students, 2) intervention services especially for those students at risk for suicide, and 3) postvention services for the survivors following a suicide. The article addresses the necessity for collaboration among staff (especially school social workers & counselors) in a successful suicide intervention program. The issue of confidentiality is discussed. (20 refs)
