Summarizes the international meeting on suicide entitled “Suicide: Interplay of Genes & Environment” held in Ljublijana, Slovenia. If cross-national variation of suicide rates reflects genuine differences, these will have to be related to international differences in cultural traditions, religious convictions, social characteristics, psychological traits, & biological factors influencing human behaviour. It takes 2 factors for every behaviour, including completed suicide to develop, namely, genes & environment.
