This chapter focuses on the psychopharmacological treatment of psychiatric disorders that are closely associated with suicidal behavior & reviews the pharmacological management of pscyhiatric disorders & behavioural dysfunctions associated with the range of suicidal behaviours most often encountered in hospital & outpatient settings. The appropriate use of medications to treat the underlying psychiatric illness & potentially alleviate the accompanying suicidal component is discussed. (66 refs.)
