Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME) is a genuine illness which imposes a substantial burden on the health of the UK population. Improvement of health & social care for people affected by this condition is an urgent chanllenge. This report proposes ways in which clinicians & the National Health Service might respond to that challenge. The report has 6 chapters: introduction; evidence from patients; nature & impact of CFS/ME; management of CFS/ME; children & young adults; & recommendations of the working group. Suicide & suicidal behaviours are not the focus of this report but are mentioned in some of the discussions.
