Consistent with prior research of dialectical behaviour therapy with adolescents, this study found significant reductions in borderline personality disorder symptoms in 4 problem areas: confusion about self, impulsivity, emotional instability, & interpersonal problems. The four most highly rated skills included distress tolerance & mindfulness skills. Relationships found between the helpfulness of specific skills & improvement in particular problem areas are described. Lastly, implications of future research of dialectical behaviour therapy skill comprehension & application among adolescents are discussed. (12 refs.)
