The United States Supreme Court recognized that states may serve as social laboratories for developing procedures permitting physician-assisted suicide. Oregon has served as the first such laboratory. First-year results suggest the feasibility of implementing a statutory right to physician-assisted suicide successfully in the USA, without abuse or negative incident. (33 notes)
