This presentation discussed the Alice Springs Youth Accommodation & Support Services. The service is a model of reconciliation, with Aboriginal & non-Aboriginal young people sharing the service & common issues. Strategies used when a completed or attempted suicide occurs within the peer group were described as were ongoing strategies used to address the despair & trauma in these young people’s lives. The presentation explained a model which encouraged the full participation of young people while recognizing their right to adult advocacy & support.
