The Effect of Former Occupation on Suicide Ideation and Suicide Attitudes in Retirees

This presentation discussed research which examined the effect of former occupation on suicide ideation & suicide attitudes in retirees. It was hypothesized former white-collar workers would demonstrate higher suicide ideation levels & more positive suicide attitudes. Results did not support the hypothesis. Former occupation did not influence either ideation or attitudes. Blue- & white-collar workers in this sample scored similarly on both variables.
