Chapter
Volunteers and Suicide Prevention (IN: The International Handbook of Suicide and Attempted Suicide, edited by K Hawton & K van Heeringen)
Scott V~~Armson S
This chapter considers the role of the volunteer in suicide prevention & approaches this from a number of viewpoints. It is clear the roles of the volunteer & professionals are entirely complementary & will result in better service for those who need help. The need for collaboration, locally, nationally, & internationally, in order for preventive strategies to be effective in reducing suicide rates is an ongoing theme in this chapter. (20 refs.)
