Lost Promise and Potential: Alberta’s Statistics on Youth Suicides. Programs and Challenges

Authored by an Alberta MLA, this report presents statisics regarding the fatalities (including suicides) of children aged 10 to 19 years in the care of the Alberta government between the years 1990 & 1998. The existence or lack of targeted suicide prevention & prevention training programs at each Regional Health Authority & each Child & Family Services Authority in Alberta is reported. Recommendations based on individual case reports & general findings are discussed.
