Possible associations between violence, homicide & suicide rates, population density & indices of deprivation were investigated in inner-city boroughs in London, England. The variables under study were strongly correlated with each other. Rates of homicide & suicide were highest in boroughs with high population density & deprivation scores. The implications of the findings for the delivery of preventive & mental health services, & for clinical management of risk are discussed. (23 refs.)
