This study examined whether or not teachers can use no-suicide contracts comfortably. 63 practice teachers participated by responding to 1 of 6 vignettes about a teacher & Pat, a suicidal student. Results showed that teachers’ responses varied little, regardless of Pat’s age or risk of suicide. They did indicate some ambivalence about using either a written or verbal no-suicide agreement. Possible reasons for this finding are discussed. (7 refs.)
