Hang on! Youth Suicide Prevention. Guide for Members of the Suicide Intervention Team

This training manual is for school staff members who come in contact with a suicidal student. The main guide helps school social workers ensure a rapid & appropriate response after the suicide attempt of a student or staff member. The following crisis situations are discussed: helping a student with suicide intent, supporting a staff member helping a suicidal student, & what to do after a suicide attempt or a completed suicide. Guidelines for coordinating emergency meetings & intervention plans are included. The manual provides an information & reference handbook for school personnel & a suicide awareness brochure for students & their parents.
