Abstract
Self-Poisoning Among Adults Using Multiple Transdermal Nicotine Patches
Woolf A~~Burkhart K~~et al
Nine cases of dermal exposure to 2-20 transdermal nicotine patches (TNPs) were reported. All nine adults with underlying psychiatric problems and/or suicidal ideation, misused multiple TNPs at once. As TNPs have become available without prescription, clinicians should be alerted to the occasional patient who will misuse multiple TNPs, often in conjunction with an overdose of other potent medications, in an attempt at selfharm.
