Factors in suicidal behaviours among gifted adolescents were studied. From a total student population of 40,805, there were 42 reports of suicide-related occurrences, 8 of these by students identified as gifted. There were no cases of completed suicide. Five of the 8 were reported as gifted underachievers, 2 were in advanced placement classes & 2 were in formal programs for gifted students. Results appear to support the growing concern regarding suicide among gifted youth. (52 refs.)
