The mortality rate & cause of death of epileptic persons in the Warsaw population & a mental hospital was studied in the early 1970’s. Suicide was a common cause of death in patients with early onset of epilepsy. Statistics are broken down with respect to percentage of deaths attributed to suicides, years survived after epileptic onset, & what death certificates attributed as the cause of death. (15 refs.)
