In this article by a FBI Special Agent, Suicide by Cop (SbC) is discussed. Several examples of SbC are given, as well as a profile of the kind of person to initiate a SbC, indicators of a potential SbC, and what police response to a potential SbC should be. Statistics of law enforcement officers assaulted or killed on duty are given to determine if deadly force by police is justified. The author suggests that in SbC the ultimate victim is the officer forced to kill the suicidal person.
