This chapter examined the nature of efforts in Canada to deal with youth sucide issues in schools & in the community. It was found that many individual schools have their own policies & procedures but comprehensive system-wide policies are not in place in most school systems. Some of the reasons for this are explored. A number of strategies for community suicide prevention are briefly outlined including: training for gatekeepers, publicizing crisis centres & hotlines, & reducing access to means.
