This presentation reported data on parasuicidal poisonings in Vilnius (Lithuania) during 1994-1995. Sociodemographic & clinical characteristics were analyzed for 495 cases. The number of parasuicides was found to have increased, especially among females. The age of suicide attempters had decreased, the number of attempts while sober increased & the number of cases with depression or other mental disorders did not change. An increase was noted in the use of psychotropic medications.
