This poster explored questions related to the suitability of using volunteers in the support of people in emotional crisis. The experience of The Samaritans UK has been that given the proper selection & preparation of new volunteers & support by more experienced volunteers, a volunteer-based service is a distinctive & valuable part of suicide prevention.
