The authors compared 2 datasets to see if hospital-based data provide guidelines for suicide prevention by general practitioners. This presentation focused on comparing characteristics of patients & suicide attempts based on these 2 datasets. Comparisons were also made between patients seen by a physician but not referred to hospital & those who were referred to hospital but not seen by a doctor. Results were discussed in terms of their usefulness to suicide prevention by general practitioners.
