During 1994-1995 a study was done in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia which detailed the incidence, clinical management & follow-up arrangements for people at risk of self-harm. Based on the information collected in this study, the development of a best-practice protocol for the main regional hospital was begun. This presentation discussed the outcomes & obstacles that were encountered in the development of this protocol.
