Suicidal Feelings in a Sample of Cognitively Unimpaired Over-Sixty-Five-Year-Olds Interviewed at Home

A survey was done of the frequency of suicidal feelings, ideation & any suicidal behaviour in the preceding month in a sample of elderly Italian subjects. This presentation discussed the findings relating to those subjects who had thought of, planned or attempted suicide. A comparison was made between subjects with & without psychiatric disorders. It was stated that awareness & assessment of suicidal ideation & behaviour in this age group may help to provide answers about needed interventions.
