This paper came from a mother’s perspective & gave insights into what it is like to live with a son who was intermittently suicidal & who eventually committed suicide after numerous attempts. The frustration of being a nurse & a mother, & not being able to prevent the suicide was discussed. The discussion pointed out the ongoing need of care for the son & the needs of those close to him – something which often is not considered in treatment plans. The need for support groups was also addressed.
