Empirically Derived Risk Groups in Adolescent Suicidal Behaviour: a Review and a new Approach

This presentation discussed current metholodology in identifying adolescent groups at risk for suicidal behaviour & a new approach to this issue. A literature review was combined with the results of a 1-year follow-up survey of approximately 2500 depressed adolescents. Risk groups were identified using a CHAD-algorithm. It was suggested that this approach of finding specific risk groups within a group of youths may provide better insights in the prediction of suicidal attempts at a group level.
