Continues a workshop report, held at the XIX Congress of the IASP, about health workers’ reactions to the suicidal death of a patient. From a Samaritan volunteer’s perspective, it is unusual for a caller to have an on-going relationship with a named volunteer & the outcome of a caller’s involvement is often unknown. To come to terms with the feelings of uncertainty & concern these volunteers require a good deal of support. Samaritans rely on each other for support.
