This article continues a discussion of 10 issues that differentiate hotlines as discrete services within the mental health & social services arena. 3 recommendations are: hotline administrators should have appropriate training in administration & maintenance; their efforts should be raised to the level of a professional responsibility in social work, education or psychology; protocols used for various problems should become consistent with protocols that are in the best interests of callers.
