An In-Home Crisis Intervention Program for Children and Their Families

Emergency & crisis intervention services for children & adolescents are scarce in Erie County, NY. In 1988, a home-based crisis intervention program was based at the community mental health center of Buffalo General Hospital. This paper describes the services offered by the program, presents characteristics of children & adolescents served in the first 2 years of the program’s operation, & summarizes data on program outcome and cost-effectiveness.
