In this article a therapist discusses the case of a 67 year old male who is physically well & mentally active. His involvement in business failures & marital conflicts brought him close to committing suicide. He differs from other elderly patients, most of whom were ill, disabled, & in decline. The implications for psychotherapy are discussed.
