This article suggests that depression among alcoholics is common & important due to its association with suicidal behaviour, but that treating depressed alcoholics has not been studied. Results of a study are presented in which 17 male alcoholics with secondary depression were treated with sertraline. Findings showed attenuation of depressive symptoms.
