This review describes 20 relatively new suicide assessment instruments, giving the clinician or researcher information about their psychometric properties, strengths & weaknesses. The instruments are grouped into the following categories: 1) clinicial-related suicide instruments, 2) self-rated suicide instruments, 3) self-rated buffers against suicide, 4) instruments focused on children & adolescents, 5) special purpose scales. 5 of these instruments are highly recommended.
