This sample consisted of suicide cases in the County of Avon over a 20 month period. Findings indicate that interpersonal stress in the last 72 hours of life was much higher in younger suicides & that young male suicides were less likely to seek help. Alcohol misuse was no higher in younger than older suicides. Concludes that various subgroups of suicides behave differently in the way they seek & utilize help. The implications of these findings for suicide prevention are discussed.
