The Dutch Voluntary Euthanasia Society (NVVE) conducted a survey to counterbalance the national review of euthanasia policy, ordered by the ministries of health and justice, whom the society say, ignores the patients’ view. The NVVE set up telephone lines for five days from September 23, to guage how often requests for euthanasia were refused, not taken seriously, or if there was a long delay before requests were carried out. It received more than 600 calls, half concerned serious problems.
