In this presentation, Vorkoper reviewed the research on suicide among gamblers. He began with a brief discussion of definitions for “problem”, “compulsive” and “pathological” gamblers. Vorkoper then described how he organized the published work about suicide among gamblers into the categories of theory, risk taking, suicide rates, biochemical, trauma, special populations & family pathology. The presentation ended with information on a study of gambling behaviours in Texas.
