Prevalence of sexual abuse among female suicide attempters, & differences among suicide attempters with/without a history of sexual abuse was studied. 158 women who had attempted suicide were interviewed. 50% of the women reported having been sexually abused. The sexually abused suicide attempters had made significantly more suicide attempts, had first attempted suicide at a younger age, & had more acquaintances who had attempted/completed suicide. They also reported more relationship problems.
