This presentation describes the Center of Elderly Suicide Prevention & Grief Related Services in San Francisco (started in 1990). To combat the tragic social problems of older adults, the Center combines an understanding of the needs of older adults with prevention/intervention techniques. Hotline services are only one option. Aggressive outreach, follow-up, & ongoing counselling is considered vital to preventing a suicidal crisis from occurring.
