This relatively small conferencs (held in 1995 in Belgium) brought together researchers & clinical practitioners. The central theme concerned conflict during adolescence in its constructive and destructive aspects. This article discusses the issues represented (conflict within “normal” families, & intrapersonal conflict), notes that only a few papers dealt with conflict with peers, & notes that researchers are increasingly aware of the need to consider the context in which the conflict appears.
