Understanding People in Crisis (IN: People in Crisis: Understanding and Helping 4th Edition, by L A Hoff)
Hoff L A
Success in crisis assessment & intervention depends on understanding (1) the origins of crisis, (2) how crisis differs from stress & illness, (3) the developmental & individual manifestations of crisis. People in crisis have a number of characteristics in common. The probability of preventing negative outcomes for these people is increased by helpers’ sensitivity to the origins of crisis & the applications of appropriate intervention strategies. These concepts are shown in a Crisis Paradigm.
