The author states that suicidology has not recognized the homosexuality factor in suicide problems. In the Bagley study of 750 young adult males, homosexually active males accounted for 37.5% of suicide attempters. GLB (gay, lesbian & bisexual) youth of color are at the highest risk for suicide attempts. Professionals working with youth lack the knowledge & understanding to help these “at risk” adolescents. Data confirming a GLB over-representation is lacking due to poor quality research work.
