A registration survey of parasuicide patients seeking hospital care in Stockholm was conducted over 24 months (1989-1990). Parasuicide rates were highest among women 25-39 years old & among men 30-39 years old. Parasuicide rates were higher for single people as compared to those who are married. The number of parasuicides among women decreased significantly between 1989 & 1990. Results also show an increased risk of parasuicide among Finnish citizens in Sweden compared to the Swedish population.
