The empirical connections between suicide & happiness were examined by looking at the connection of each with 7 standard demographic characteristics: sex, age, race, parental status, marital status, religiosity, & employment status. Findings indicate that marital status, religiosity & employment status have a predicted similar effect on suicide & happiness. Parenthood has an unclear relationship with suicide & happiness. Sex, age & race have dissimilar effects on suicide & happiness. (132 refs.)
