The increase in the incidence of adolescent suicide & suicide attempts between 1990-94 in Hong Kong is discussed. The Health Intervention Training-Mutual Aid Network (HITMAN) is an early suicide detection & intervention approach designed to help students develop positive peer cultures. The program uses techniques that incorporate the tendency of Hong Kong students to prefer group activities. The aims, objectives, procedures, & curriculum contents of HITMAN are presented. (49 refs.)
