Sakinofsky reviews the book Attempted Suicide in Europe. This book presents the data of the first phase of a project which aims to collect data on trends in attempted suicide & to look for risk factors predictive of future suicidal behavior. Background information, interim reports, aggregate analysis of data from each center and a paper on methodology are included in the book. Sakinofsky feels, however, that the study was not epidemiologically systematic and offers suggestions to rectify this.
