The State of Knowledge on gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Youth Suicide (IN: Death by Denial: Studies of Suicide in gay and Lesbian Teenagers, edited by G Remafedi)

This chapter serves both as an introduction to the book, “Death by Denial” & as a discussion of the current state of knowledge about homosexual youth suicide. Barriers to research are addressed, i.e. lack of support from government agencies for the study of suicide in homosexual populations. There is a brief discussion of the future of research & suicide prevention programs for homosexual youth. (14 refs.)
