This report begins with a review of suicide in Alberta & then discusses the Calgary Task Force on Suicide, a group formed in response to the escalating rates of attempted & completed suicide. Strategies for planning suicide prevention services are grouped under 3 main headings: intervention, prevention & postvention. A 5-year plan is outlined for gatekeeper & public education, the formation of a resource centre, a research symposium, data collection, & community support programs in postvention.
