Suicidal Behavior in Adolescents: a Review of Risk and Protective Factors (IN: Treatment Approaches With Suicidal Adolescents, edited by J K Zimmerman & G M Asnis)
Grosz D E~~Zimmerman J K~~Asnis G M
Treatment strategies developed for suicidal teenagers can be conceptualized as interventions that decrease the impact of risk factors (found to correlate positively with suicidal behaviour) & enhance the role of protective factors (found to correlate negatively with suicidal behaviour). This chapter reviews salient issues raised by studies on demographic, psychosocial, psychiatric, genetic, & biological risk factors, social & problem-solving skills & support, & protective factors.
