The purpose of this booklet is to provide 4-H leaders with some ways of recognizing children in need of help & in determining what steps can & should be taken to ensure their well-being. Indicators of physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse & neglect are outlined. Important factors in responding to a child (or older adolescent) who discloses a situation & the procedures for reporting child abuse are discussed. Youth suicide prevention is reviewed & suicidal warning signs are outlined.
